As best we can
C of E bishops begrudgingly unite (mostly) around ending the gay blessings saga; and what makes a Christian get involved in politics anyway?
Hello! Our first item today is an update this week from the Church of England’s bishops: they’re officially calling a halt to the Prayers of Love and Faith next month. Although, as we’ll see, they’re not truly calling it quits on the whole sexuality debate, just kicking it down the road for a bit.
Then we pick up some more threads from the Christian Nationalism conversation, including three interviews I recently did with Christian MPs from the three main parties. Their faith pushed them each into politics of very different flavours, so why is it so many in the church are upset at self-described Christians whose faith leads them to more radical right-wing positions?
Then there’s our latest podcast (completing our big picture sweep through the Bible with the theme of New Creation), and a list of interesting church news stories from around the internet (including this week controversial gas boilers, should we abolish wedding fees, and are the organist’s days numbered).
